Garden Tour - Itinerary

Day 1
Morning
Guests are invited to a leisurely check-in at the four Star Dormy
House Hotel prior to an introductory talk during lunch by your local
tour hostess.
Lunch
A light two course lunch served ‘Al Fresco’ on the Garden Terrace
at the Dormy House Hotel.
Afternoon
Departure on a luxury coach to the first garden venue: Kiftsgate Garden.
“Kiftsgate Garden consists
of a series of interconnecting gardens each with distinct character
and secrets and is a creation of three generations of lady gardeners
dating back to the 1920’s.”
Evening
Three-course dinner served in the ‘Dormy Suite’ followed by guest
speaker and award winning garden designer Julian Dowle giving an after
dinner talk on ‘How to make Your Garden a Show Garden’.
Julian Dowle is the first
ever International garden designer to win all three medals at the
Chelsea Flower Show in 2005 with – The Chelsea Pensioner’s Garden
‘A Soldiers Dream of Blighty’. With over 30 years of gardening experience,
Julian is a true ambassador within the ‘Gardening World’.
Day 2
Morning
Full Cotswold breakfast served in the Dining Room ready for departure
for a unique visit to one of the finest privately-owned Japanese Gardens
in the UK accompanied by Julian Dowle.
“Fantastic picturesque
gem of a garden which includes rockeries and streams all hidden away
with magnificent views of the surrounding Cotswold countryside.”
Later in the morning departure for the third garden on the tour: Sezincote
Gardens
“A fine old garden set
against exotic Indian Architecture and built in 1810 by Charles Cockerell.
A unique garden built around an Indian House with its Persian Garden.”
Lunch
Return to the Dormy House for a light two-course lunch served in the
‘Barn Owl’.
Afternoon
Departure for the fourth garden on the tour: Sudeley Castle
“A remarkable garden that
has matured for over 300 years around the picturesque ruins of the
old castle and walls of an old Tithe barn.”
Evening
Drinks reception will take place on the ‘Terrace Bar’ with tour guide
hostess and the hotel management team prior to a three-course dinner
in the ‘Dining Room’.
Day 3
Morning
Full Cotswold breakfast served in the Dining Room then departure for
Hidcote Manor Gardens for a private viewing and tour by one of the
Head Gardeners.
“Although among the best
known gardens in Britain, Hidcote Manor still has the power to amaze.
Its life began before World War I by an American, Major Lawrence Johnston”
Lunch
Return to the Dormy House for a farewell lunch served in the ‘Dining
Room’ with a professionally acclaimed garden photographer, who will
give a talk on ‘Garden Photography’.
Cotswolds
Attractions
If you do not wish to visit all the gardens on the tour, then make
the most of Dormy House’s purposefully devised local walks or take
in some sightseeing in the nearby historic villages of Chipping Campden
and Broadway. Alternatively, add another day to your tour (before
or after) at a preferential rate so you can make the most of your
visit to the Heart of the Cotswolds.
